Flag of Baruta Municipality, Miranda

The flag that completes the three official symbols of the Baruta Municipality in Caracas, Venezuela was raised in the Plaza El Cristo in the Baruta town, in 2003.

The election of this flag was in the project of A Flag for my municipality, organized by the Commission of Culture and sports of the Municipal Council, participating public and private schools of the municipality. A jury conformed by personalities of the municipality chose between 44 flags.

Yoana Carolina Blanco Martínez, author of the flag, explained this symbol: the blue strip represents the gorges and lakes of Baruta, the yellow is the gold that was in the gorge of San Ignacio, and the green strip is all the vegetation that has the Municipality, the coffee plant crown that has its emblem in the center, represents the tillage of coffee in the old properties of Baruta, the sun is the birth of a new municipality, the green rays are the faith and the hope, the yellows are the prosperity and wealth, and the blue ones are the freedom and peace that everybody wants for the municipality and Venezuela
